Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Lyric of The Day

Things Like You by Sanctus Real
"loving things like you has wrecked my life / made me cry / loving things like you has made me lose my mind / and I can't figure out why I've been hanging on / to all these things I've tried to leave behind me for so long // and I think it's time to find / a better way to live my life / than loving all those things that keep me wrapped so tight // everyone wants everyone else's everything / sometimes the more we have the less we really gain / i'm tired of loving all that money has to buy / get out of my heart, out of my mind / leaving you behind //why are we obsessed with possessions here on earth / go and take a look at the flowers and the birds / God is always taking care of nature's every need / and how much more important in the Father's eyes are we / I said how much more important in the Father's eyes are we? He sees everything"
This is something God's been trying to get through to me for a while now. I'm a bit of a 'stuff' freak sometimes. My hobbies don't help matters. But God has put a few people in my life the last little while who have shown me it's not about what you have, it's about what you do with what you've got. I shouldn't be so concerned about giving stuff away, or helping someone out...it's all God's stuff anyway, he just wants to see what I'm gonna do with it.

John 14 & 15

I was reading in John today, and there was so much in those two chapters, I couldn't go any farther, I just kept reading 'em over and over.  Jesus showed so much concern and love for his disciples in his last days on earth.  I get the feeling that he wants desperately to tell them more, or to somehow engrave his words in their mind so they won't forget.  Such awesome stuff he had to say...I wonder how the disciples took it all in.  Here's the low-down on these two chapters:  First Jesus comforts his disciples by telling them he's coming back for the.  He says he'll do anything they ask in his name.  I know too many times I've claimed that verse when praying for stuff I didn't really need...not exactly what he had in mind, given the context of the verses.  He then calls them his friends (as opposed to them calling him master & teacher) and he promises an awesome love-relationship with those who love him and obey him.  He lets them know that apart from him they are powerless and futile, but if they're in fellowship with him, they've got the power to change the world.  He gives the 2nd greatest commandment, to love others, and says there is no greater love than laying down one's life for a friend.  Funny how he should mention that just b4 he gave his life for us.  he then closes with a dose of reality saying that the world will hate them, just like it hates him, but he will send the Holy Spirit who will testify with them and be their comfort.  I think all of the stuff in these chapters applies to us if we are Christ's disciples, and that's a pretty exciting thought to me!  Read the chapters for yourself, and let me know what you think!

URGENT PRAYER REQUEST

Hey guys...please pray for a lady I met at camp...her name is Lori, and she was rushed to the hospital early last week and doctors induced a coma...I think it's something along the lines of meningits (doctos aren't sure).  The doctors told her husband she has a 50/50 chance of coming out of it, but if she does, she will have severe brain damage.  They have three young kids, and two of them are at camp this week.  Please pray!

Lyric of the Day

Hey kids! Today's LOTD comes to us from our good friends in Common Children. From the album 'Skywire', the song is entitled "Last Time Out". Here's a snippet:
"would you say what's on your mind / when you know it's the last time / has it all been a waste of life / when you know it's the last time"
To me the song speaks about making the most of the time we've got left, 'cause we never know when it's our turn to go. Never miss an opportunity to tell people you love them, or to make a difference in a persons life. - Warren

another day, another dollar

hey, it's monday...even better than that, it's over soon. Today was crazy at work again. The other day a guy was ticked 'cause his bike wasn't repaired yet, so he told me that I had no right to take holidays during the summer. Nice. If it wasn't for a song I learnt at camp, I think my reaction would have been a little less than Christ-like. The song goes "may the words of my mouth / and the thoughts of my heart / speak your name / speak your name, Jesus". Simple song with nothing new as far as lyrics, but it sticks in my head, and really helps me check my attitude during the day. I think I'm gonna start posting a song of the day. Someone asked me the other day why I don't record a CD. My answer was that I never feel inspired to write lyrics...I know the lyrics to so many songs, there's always one on my mind that expresses exactly what I'm feeling at the time. Anywhooos, it's late and my head is being drawn to my room like a Mennonite to a free lunch at a grand opening. G'night. - Warren p.s. how about that Lance Armstrong guy, eh? Pretty amazing...

I'm usually the one taking the pictures, so this is one of the few I have of myself...kinda funny...I look all serious...as if I actually new what i was doing...riiiight ;)
