Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Had the priviledge of attending the W.E.S Jazz Choir and Band Fundraising Dessert Night. Wow. My brother is a kickin' drummer. I mean he plays with our worship team and stuff, but this was really different...he was super tight. And he had a trumpet solo that would make the Supertones jealous. I sure was :)
Been a while since I've put any pics up on Ofoto, but I'll definitely put an album of pics up from this evening. Anywhoos, now I've gotta hit the sack...tomorrow morning I'm going to Wpg with Josh to do some ice climbing. I'm pretty nervous...I've never done it before, and I'm sure there'll be all these real mountain-climber-guys swapping stories about their unassisted ascents of Everest, and about the time they saved a buddy by lassooing him with a rope, and holding on with just an ice axe as they both dangled over the edge of a three hundred foot cliff. Yup. Should be fun. If all else fails, I'll try and get a few good pics. Later!

Verse of the Day

Today's VOTD is one that's on the list of verses Liane and I are trying to memorize. I'm posting it because it's the one that I'm having the toughest time with, and maybe by typing it out I'll be able to remember it easier (I know I've seen Heath and Dusty type out their verses for quizzing so maybe it helps). This is an awesome passage, because it could be the only passage in the Bible on how to live life as a Christian, and it would be enough.

Colossians 3:12-14
Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity.

Aww man, I am such a pig. My toast just slipped off of the plate which was balancing on my lap, and not I've got a grease stain on my pants. I better go. Have an awesome day!

5 More Days!

Ok ok. I'll be quiet about the Bleach thing already. I guess for me, it just never gets old. I know for sure I'll be listening to this stuff another 10 or 20 years from now (I've already been listening to it for 10, so the idea doesn't seem too far fetched). I'll be just like the people who are still stuck in the '80's with their mullets and acid washed jeans.

The Fever Returns

Adidas makes a soccer ball called the Fevernova. It's a really nice ball. Today I've got hiking fever...probably brought on by planning for the big trip this summer, but inflamed by a new magazine I got in the mail yesterday, "Explore". This is my kind of magazine. It purely Canadian, and it's all about exploring God's Great Creation (although they don't exactly call it that :) Good stuff.
Wow, I went to sleep early two nights in a row, and does it ever make a difference! I woke up both mornings feeling like I was ready to conquer the world, instead of waking up feeling like it had just conquered me. This morning I did some laundry, washed a bunch of dishes, replied to a bunch of emails, read a chapter of "Against the Wind", and cooked up some goods for lunch.
The other day I refered to the song "Andy's Doin' Time". It's off of the cd "Again, For The First Time" Definitely a must have cd for any rock 'n roll fan.

Andy's Doin' Time

Oh no, Andy's doin' time
Mike said his home school's fine
And Jimmy, the job never ends
Now you gotta starta again
Mom said that Kathy's great
Look now, 'cause Angie's stayin' up late with Journey,
Shari and Jenn and I'm so glad they're friends

So I move on and on into the sun
You say I'm the lucky one
Am I really the lucky one

Hey Josh, how's the service
All this talk of war makes me nervous
But Diesel is somin' to the show
Tell me something I don't know
I know that Winston's the ma
If you go in there you better hide your hands
I bet that mama's been bookin' something good
I'd head home if I could

But I gotta move on and on into the sun
You say I'm the lucky one
Am I really the lucky one
Am I the lucky one
Yeah the lucky one

Oh Shack, I know money's tight
But man, don't give up the fight

'Cause we're moving on and on and on
We'll head out towards the sun
'Cause we're the lucky ones
Yeah the lucky ones

What Will Your Anthem Be?

Ok...real quick...it's been an awesome day. I want to go to bed in three minutes. I will attempt to go to bed at 9:00. I'm not going to do the dishes. Not going to clean up the living room. Not going to read the book I really want to read. Not going to work on pictures. Not even going to check my email. Not even sure why I'm posting this, but I guess I feel like I've been slacking off a bit...my top 15 song countdown has fallen gravely ill, and there really is a lot I'd like to post...had a great weekend...anywhoos, here are a couple of the highlights which I may expound upon at a later date :)

- went to MEC with Heinrich...spent way too much, but had a great time
-spent the evening playing with Noah, Lea, Kian, Joshua, and David...way too much fun
-watched "Hitch" again with Liane, Irene, and Heinrich
- Keith's sisters and Stacey sang in church this morning. It made me cry. They are amazing.
- College & Career was awesome...Keith's sister and their friend came...singing was great with so many people
- Had communion at church this evening. Always look forward to that...it was wonderful.

Okay, here's another one of my favorite Bleach songs from the self titled cd. It kinda reminds me of the song "When the Music Fades", but it's a little different...a song about what really matters in life, and a song that definitely describes the lives of the guys in Bleach so well. They have got to be one of the most authentic, humble bands I know. This song means a lot to me, and hopefully I've learnt from it.

"What Will Your Anthem Be"

When the glitter fades
It fades so fast
What really lasts?
What will the anthem be?
Did we sing of rock 'n roll?
Did we sing of sacred souls?
Has the heart and the harmony
Met pleasingly?

When the flicker fades
It fades so fast
Nothing is left
What will be legacies?
'Cause guitars will burn you see
Recollect no memories
Of the lights and the cheers
And the human vanity

Should I give?
Should I sing some rust?
Pity me for my golden lust
And this one's for the lily
And this one's for the rose

Here it is
Let the truth be told
Here it is
We would like to know
Here it is
What will the anthem be?

What will your anthem be?
What will our anthem be?
What will the anthem be?

Ten short years. 7 CDs. A couple of DVDs. Never really had the kind of following that bands like Audio Adrenaline, the Newsboys, Third Day, and others had. But that's the way they liked it. And for them to know they had touched one life was worth it. Now they'll head out towards the sun (check out "Andy's Song"...an awesome song about how tough it was for them to be away from their families) and probably be forgotten by all but their biggest fans. But for them it wasn't about that anyway. Their anthem was always this "In God, there is hope".
