Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Back in Action!

Wow, it's been almost a month since I last posted! Finally got the internet hooked up the other day. There were so many topics I wanted to post while I didn't have the i-net...most I tried to journal elsewhere...maybe I'll bring 'em out yet. Anywhoos, let's start things off again with a Verse Of The Day. It was a close call between this, and posting the lyrics for an awesome new song I heard called "At the foot of the cross"....I'll post the lyrics Sunday, 'cause Stacey and I are singing it at church. Anywhoos, here goes:

1 Timothy 6:11&12 "But you, man of God, flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses."

I love reading from 1st and 2nd Timothy for 2 reasons: One, there's so much practical stuff to learn from the letters Paul wrote, and two, his letters to Timothy have always seemed extra-relevant to me because Timothy was young. Paul knew that with God's help, this was all stuff Timothy could actually accomplish...actually make life changing impact. Being older, he also knew what was coming down the road, and what kind of character it would take to make it...and what kind of character God wanted to develop in Timothy. So I like to take this stuff pretty personally.

On another note, with Christmas coming up, I was already thinking about New Years this morning (mostly 'cause John Lennon's song "Happy Christmas" was playing, and it starts of "so this is Christmas / what have you done / another year over / a new one's just begun") and I got to thinking....instead of looking back and forward at New Years and thinking of all things we would like to better in the new year, why not start now? And then when New Years rolls around, you'll already be well on your way to making some great things happen! I'm not usually one to make a whole lot of resolutions, but I've become a little more introspective than I used to be, and there's always 'stuff' to work on. If life's a journey, and i think we'd all have to say that's the case, where are you headed? Later,
