Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Ready To Hide

Have you ever felt so overwhelmed by all that you have to do that you dream up some elaborate way to fake your own death...so you can hide for a while? Well I tried today, but it was too busy at work to think up a scheme. So if you've got any good ideas, leave a comment :)

So many things that should have been done, but there literally was no time to do it. So many things that need to be done, but many will be sacrificed to make time for more important things.

I have a $3200 mountain bike that hasn't seen the trails yet this year.

The Big Hike is only like 6 weeks away, and I haven't trained at all yet. The last time I went hiking there was still ice on the lake and snow on the trails.

I haven't been running since early April.

I can't remember the last time I played guitar just for the fun of it.

Friendships have been neglected.

sick.

But in less than 3 months I will be married! :) :)

Don't get me wrong, I'm not upset about giving these things up...it's just gonna take a little getting used to the fact that I'm not alone anymore. Going from Loner to Lover is going to be a process, and require some sacrifices that I am definitely willing to make.

Please keep us in your prayers.

How's everybody doing today? Weather blah's got you down? I'm trying really hard to be optimistic. Hey, at least the sun was shining all day yesterday :) And it's not snowing today! Yesss! Things are looking good.

So the rant I spoke of...well, we've decided to let it go. It had to do with the way Liane was let go at her former place of employment which shall remain nameless. It still makes absolutely no sense to us, but there's no point in holding grudges, or trying to figure it out, 'cause we'll never really know. Stuff happens. We move on.

Sure felt like ranting yesterday though...found out that because of WALMART the mall is going to be open saturdays and mondays on long weekends and stats...yup...no july long weekend, no september long, no boxing day, new years day, etc. We're a city now...oh yeah. I'm not sure how this qualifies as progress. Might as well throw in sundays right away. Ticks me right off.

Ok...Liane's here, gonna go wash her car now. Bubye!

Perspective

Job 38

The the Lord answered Job out of the storm. He said:

"Who is this that darkens my counsel with words without knowledge?
Brace yourself like a man; I will question you, and you shall answer me.
Where were you when I laid the earth's foundation? Tell me, if you understand.
Who marked off it's dimensions? Surely you know! Who stretched a measuring line across it?
On what were it's footings set, or who laid its cornerstone - while the morning stars sang together and all the angels shouted for joy?
Who shut up the sea behind doors when it burst forth from the womb, when I made the clouds its garment and wrapped it in thick darkness, when I fixed limits for it and set its doors and bars in place, when I said, 'This far you may come and no farther; here is where your proud waves halt'?
Have you ever given orders to the morning, or shown the dawn its place that it might take the earth by the edges and shake the wicked out of it?
The earth takes shape like clay under a seal; its features stand out like those of a garment.
The wicked are denied their light, and their unpraised arm is broken.
Have you journeyed to the springs of the sea or walked in the recesses of the deep?
Have the gates of death been shown to you? Have you seen the gates of the shadow of death?
Have you comprehended the vast expanses of the earth? Tell me, if you know all this!
What is the way to the abode of light? And where does the darkness reside?
Can you take them to their places? Do you know the paths to their dwellings?
Surely you know, for you were already born! You have lived so many years! (Obviously God has a great sense of humor...wonderful use of sarcasm here :)
Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?
What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?
Who cuts a channel for the torrents of rain, and a path for the thunderstorm, to water a land where no man lives, a desert with no one in it, to satisfy a desolate wasteland and make it sprout with grass?
Does the rain have a father? Who fathers the drops of dew?
From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens when the waters become hard as stone, when the surface of the deep is frozen?
Can you bind the beautiful Pleiades? Can you loose the cords of Orion?
Can you bring forth the constellations in their seasons or lead out the Bear with its cubs?
Do you know the laws of the heavens? Can you set up God's dominion over earth?
Can you raise your voice to the clouds and cover yourself with a flood of water?
Do you send the lightning bolts on their way? Do they report to you, 'Here we are'?
Who endowed the heart with wisdom or gave understanding to the mind?
Who has the wisdom to count the clouds? Who can tip over the water jars of the heavens when the dust becomes hard and the clods of earth stick together?
Do you hunt the prey for the lioness and satisfy the hunger of the lions when they crouch in their dens or lie in wait in a thicket?
Who provides food for the raven when its young cry out to God and wander about for lack of food?"

Had a blast this sunday...church was extra special with a child dedication service...and it's Mother's Day! Did you hug your mom today? We had a potluck lunch and hung around the church for a while, then went to Liane's parents for a while, then to my parent's for a while (and supper :) and then to Heinrich & Irene's place for the evening. Good times :)
