shopping spree

Saturday morning and I'm excited. Heinrich and I are going to the city to check out some gear for ou hiking trip at Mountain Equipment Co-op...my most favorite of all stores :) I could spend hours in there...the amount of time I spend in there however, is directly proportionate with the amount of money I spend, so I'll have to be careful ;) Anywhoos, I've got to go pick up Mr. Nikel now.
Later!

Had a pretty decent game of mono-poly tonight. We won't mention who didn't win this time ;)

OK, so it's way too late again, and I'm really not feeling like typing a whole lot, so I'm gonna wimp out and just post a picture of Bleach. Pretend they're singing. Just for you. Actually it must be a guitar solo or intro or something, 'cause Davy's not singing. Whatever. 10 days! Yeeeeeehawwww!

Sun Stands Still

13 Days! Yessss! Or 14 depending on how you count. Whatever the case my be, it's getting closer every day! Ok. Today's song from my Top 15 comes to us from the self titled cd.

"Sun Stands Still"
I have been so worn and so spent
Medicate what's left and leave the rest
Fight to love and live I must confess
Medicate what's left forget the rest
Stranger things have touched and graced the ancient eyes
And it comes as no
Should come as no surprise
And I found it hard to believe
But I know that You will
Yeah I know Your will
Because the sun stands still
The sun stands still
Bathe in beams of love and jealousy
To breathe the light of heaven's kiss
A million beams will wait just for me just for me
You hold the day with bloodstained wrists
Oh Jesus, You're the One
Who puts the Hallelujahs on my lips
You're the holder of the sun
Sweet salvation
Yes yes Jesus You're the One
So when I stand on Gibeon
And when the night has come
I'm not alone I see the light
Of the One, of the One I love
Hallelujah, Hallelujah
Jesus You're the One
You're the holder of the sun

This song became one of my favorite Bleach songs the first time I saw them play it live. I had listened to it on the cd a hundred times before, but it was so different live. It's one of the heaviest worship songs I've heard for sure, and just the way they played it with such passion...seeing Davy on his knees by the end of the song...people in the middle of the mosh pit with hands lifted high, worshiping God in the middle of a rock concert...this one has made me all teary eyed just about every time I've heard it since then. Good stuff indeed :)

Tea For Two

Kinda funny...actually did have tea for two tonight. But that's not what I meant. No. Today is the beginning of the 15 day countdown to the release of the final Bleach CD. And the first of the Top 15 Songs is from their first album entitled "Space".

"Tea For Two"
As a child, I played in the sandbox
As a child, we could be friends
Now that we have grown older
That's come to a bitter end
Trucks and horses replaced by guns
Ethnic hatrid replaces the fun
We go on fighting and murdering brothers
But the greatest gift is love
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Or a cup of tea for two
An eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth
Or a cup of tea for two
And so we relive the story
The same old story man after man
And we think we are so wise
Then why can't we get back to the sand?
And we search for more
Never finding much
Believe like a child believes in love
Man, I remember back in the day...summer of 1996 to be exact...James Froese and I went to Bible Book Shop. We had both kinda gotten into secular music, but realized it was bringing us down, so we decided to see if there was something out there that satisfied our taste for heavy music a little more adequately than listening to "Cross of Gold" by Michael W. Smith and "Flood" by Jars of Clay for hours on end. I remember seeing the name Bleach for the first time and thinking "what kind of band would call themselves 'bleach'?" Ha ha. "Tea For Two" was the only song I listened to on the demo tape, and I was sold. And I'll tell you, I got a lot more than my twenty bucks out of that tape. I remember Davy's voice took a little while to grow on me...had a bit of a whine like Smashing Pumpkins or something.
Anywhoos, enough reminisching :) for today. Actually, I guess I kinda missed today's post by a few hours...it's almost 2 a.m. So I haven't posted in a while...sorry 'bout that...it was a busy weekend/week so far. I worked saturday, then flew to church for the Valentine's Banquet (which was really good, and hilarious at times - Roger, I never knew you were so co-ordinated!) Sunday was full as usual...church was great...went to Liane's place for lunch...ate like a starved animal (not 'cause I was all that hungry after the first helping, but Liane's mom is a really good cook). Then we had college and career at my place. Oh yeah, the weather on sunday absolutely rocked! It was 6.3 degrees above! So after the lesson we went for a little walk. Boy was it messy! And it was kinda drizzling a bit. After supper Liane and I went to Keith and Stacey's place. We decided it was still so nice that we should probably go for a walk again. Which we did. It was so nice...but again, pretty dirty and really slippery.
On Valentines Day, Liane invited me over for supper. She made some stuff that I had never had before...it was really good. After supper we tried our hand at baking some cookies, and brought them to some friends. Then we went to the theatre and saw "Hitch". Thatsa pretty funny movie! Will Smith usually is.
And then tonight was Celebration Night at the bible camp. I'm always looking forward to celebration nights...such good times...awesome worship, and a whole lot of fun too. I think tonight's game of volleyball had to have been one of the most competitive ones yet! I am sore. I landed on my but a few times and bruised my right buttock. It hurts to sit. Anywhoos, I should get some sleep. Later :)
