Beautiful Day

I just erased this entire post. :( I accidently highlighted the whole thing and hit the space bar. doh! Hmmmm...where did I begin. Ahhh, yes.
Could there be a more gorgeous day than today? So. Much. Snow. All the filth of the city is gone, and it's one big winter wonderland. I no longer live on a gravel road with a gravel driveway...no, I live in a blue house surrounded by much fluffy whiteness. Very nice.

Not only has it been a beautiful day, but it's been a loooong day. After a couple of New Years parties, we watched a couple of movies for Beth's birthday. (Go to www.bethcomtois.blogspot.com and wish her a happy 18th!) I've seen Master and Commander a few too many times, and so I must admit I did close my eyes for just a little while...I had to close my eyes anyway when they had to cut off that kid's arm, and pull the bullet out of the doctor's gut :) The we watched Elf. Now either I was just way too tired given the fact that it was 3 a.m., or it was a really funny movie, 'cause I laughed A LOT!
I think I finally got home around 4 or 4:30.

Went to mom & dad's this afternoon, and had some really good pizza for supper. Good thing too...I thought we were going to be gone all weekend, so I didn't buy nearly as many groceries last week as I should have.

Well, here's a little inside scoop for those of you who read my blog so faithfully :) I'll tell you before I tell anyone else...tonight I asked Liane 'out', and she said yes! So we're officially day-ting :) Yee-haw.

Well, I think I'm gonna try and hit the sack before 12 for the first time in a few weeks. I kinda feel a cold coming on, and I probably deserve it for all those late nights. Talk to y'all later.

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

The Last Great Blizzard of 2004

Well, I may never get to climb Mount Everest, race in the Tour De France, or bike across Canada, but I can walk for hours in a nasty blizzard!
I walked to Heinrich & Irene's place tonight. All the way to the far end of Reinfeld. Then we all went for a hike in The Shire. It was awesome. It was so windy and the wind had sculpted all the fresh snow into beautiful drifts. We walked through the creek bed, did a little cliff jumping, and played in the snow. It was a blast. Heinrich and I pulled Irene, Lea, and Noah on the sled for a while. I climbed across a big dead tree that was suspended about 8 feet above the creek, and then pulled Noah up to join me. We got back to the house exhausted, and had some yummy hot chocolate and chocolate. Yes, that's right. Hot chocolate and chocolate. Mmmmm.
Once Noah and Lea were in bed, Heinrich and I went for another walk in The Shire. The wind had really picked up. We followed the creek a little farther this time, but turned around and headed for a more sheltered area when the wind got too bad.
The walk back to Winkler was laboured to say the least. If it wasn't for the Nussknacker that Irene gave me before I left, I think I would have been crawling by the time I got home. I stopped half way home to eat it. Mmmmmm. It was so good I could have fallen asleep right there and been quite happy ;) It was so windy on the way home, it was blowing me sideways across the road. I think it must be easily over 100 km/hr. It was just like the scene in "The Day After Tomorrow" when the trio is walking to Manhatten to rescue his son. Except I didn't fall through any glass-roofed buildings. And I wasn't pulling a sled, although at times it sure felt like I was.
Anywhoos, it's 1:43 a.m., and I have to work this morning. Still not sure what the plan is for Camp Arnes...looks doubtful to me right now. Just realized I haven't done any laundry or started to pack yet. Should be fun :)
Take care folks, and if I don't see you before saturday, have a Happy New Year!
p.s. Happy Birthday Auntie Anna!!

Bitter-sweet

Ok, NEVER have I been so disappointed and yet so excited at the same time. This snow is AWESOME. It's gonna suck if we can't make it to camp Arnes, but this is just so much fun. I was supposed to be working until 9 pm tonight, but they shut the mall down because of all the snow. Riding bike home was the biggest workout I've had in a long time. Five people stopped me on the way home to ask if I needed a ride, but it only took me two or three minutes longer than normal. My feet were pretty wet and cold by the time I got home, because the snow was higher than my bottom pedal. Good times!
I think tonight I'm going to walk to Heinrich's place to return Noah and Lea's dvds. Should be a fun little hike. Wish I hadn't sold my snow shoes last year. Cross country skiis wouldn't hurt either. Oh well...boots will have to do.
Have a great night!
p.s....thanks for praying...I think things are gonna be ok.

Hey folks

Sorry it's been so long since I've posted anything on here. To be honest, I haven't been in much of a blogging mood. It's not easy trying to make this stuff interesting!
Well, Christmas was great. Sad to say it's over so soon. Had a great time with family and friends. My birthday has come and gone too...a big thanks to all of you who showed up at my place on monday...it was fun! Started taking medication for my arthritis and the heart condition...just kidding, I'm not that old yet :) Last year seemed like a bit of a darker year. I'd have to say 19 and 20 were definitely the best years so far. We'll see what 23 brings. So much for Starflyer 59's "Fell in love @ 22". Theme song for this year'll have to be Jimmy Eat World's "23"... "Amazing still it seems / I'll be 23 / I won't always love what I'll never have / I won't always live in my regrets".
So news of this impending blizzard/ice storm/whatever it is has really got me down. If we don't make it to Camp Arnes for this weekend, I am going to be severely disappointed. Everything I look forward to seems to fall apart...the BC trip gone wrong this spring was a prime example. On the bright side, we're supposed to get a good chunk of snow, and that's always good. The trees look really nice and iced up right now too...maybe I can get some good pictures tomorrow morning.
Well, hope you're all doing well. If you think of it, send off a prayer for me sometime...something's come up that has made things slightly complicated. Thanks :)
