More on patience...
Came across another good verse on patience this morning...Colossians 3:12 & 13. "Therefore, as God's chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you."
Last time I posted about patience, it was more of a "wait-on-the-Lord-for-what-he's-going-to-do-in-my-life" kind of patience. In this passage, Paul is saying that if we want to love others the way we need to, we've got to be patient with them. I guess that's a given, but it's an easy thing to forget. In the verse where Paul says "clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness..."....if you can get those things nailed down, I don't think patience with others will be a problem. All four of those attributes have to do with putting others ahead of yourself. And if you can do that, you've got no problem being patient with someone.
So there you have it. Slow down. Wait for people. Don't expect your thirteen year old brother to act like he's 25. When someone seems to be taking their sweet time, be gracious.
Love as Jesus loved.
"And I / found it hard to believe / but I know that You will / Yeah, I know Your will / because the sun stands still" "Oh Jesus You're the one who puts the Hallelujahs on my lips / You're the holder of the sun / sweet salvation / yes, yes / Jesus You're the One"
