Lyric of the Day
Hey folks! Heath bought the new Relient K CD "Mmhmm" the other day. It's really good. I would recommend it. One song called 'High Of 75' is particularly extra fine. Here are the lyrics:
We were talking together: I said, "What's up with this weather?" : Don't know whether or not how sad I just got : Was on my own volition : Or if I'm just missing : The sun
And tomorrow I know : Will be rainy at best : And the forecast I know : Is that I'll be depressed : But I'll wait outside : Hoping that I'll catch sight : Of the sun
Because on and off : The clouds have fought : For control over the sky : And lately the weather has been so bi-polar and consequently so have I
But now I'm : Sunny with a high of 75 : Since you took my heavy heart and made it light and its funny how you find you enjoy your life : When you're happy to be alive
And the temperature is freezing : And then after dark : There's a cold front : Sweeping in over my heart : And we might break up : If I don't wake up to the sun
Just reading the lyrics, they seem rather dark and depressing, but it's actually a really upbeat-feel-good kinda song. And the lyrics are so true: weather affects our attitude so much. And we hardly notice it. But get a couple weeks, or a whole summer of damp, rainy, cold weather, and you start feeling the same way. But I think the point of the song is found in the chorus: "but now I'm sunny with a high of 75 since you took my heavy heart and made it light and it's funny how you find you enjoy your life when you're happy to be alive". God makes the hope and joy possible, but ultimately it's up to us to chose to love life. Life's too short to let a crappy day get you down. So next time you wake up and it's cloudy and cold, and your bike ride to work leaves you with a big muddy stripe up your back, smile so big it hurts, and thank God for yet another day to live.
