Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Lyric of the Day

Hey I know, I know...no posts in a week...I'm a bad boy. With good excuse though...Liane and I have been busy painting the bedrooms, but we should be done tonight. The paint job in the music room is particularly fun I think, with a ivory/beige/whatever-you-call-it kind of color, and then some nice big stripes in exotic red, to match her couch. I'll post a pic after we finish 'er off tonight.

So the song of the day is "I am a Rock" by Simon and Garfunkel. It has nothing to do with my life right now, I can relate to it a bit from the past, but I love it 'cause it's just such a sweet song musically (as is the case with most of their music).

I am a Rock
- Simon and Garfunkel -

A winters day in a deep and dark December
I am alone
Gazing from my window to the streets below
On a freshly fallen silent shroud of snow

I am a rock
I am an island

I've built walls, a fortress deep and mighty
That none may penetrate
I have no need of friendship
Friendship causes pain
It's laughter and it's nothing I disdain

I am a rock
I am an island

Don't talk of love
Well I've heard the word before
It's sleeping in my memory
I won't disturb the slumber
Of feelings that have died
If I never loved I never would have cried

I am a rock
I am an island

I have my books and my poetry to protect
I am shielded in my harbor
Hiding in room, safe within my womb
I touch no one and no one touches me

I am a rock
I am an island
And a rock feels no pain
And an island never cries

And because it's nearly the end of July, here's one more. From Holland, "Bring Back July"

I should've stayed awake
This could've made a difference
Did I even say a prayer that night?
I've made a few mistakes
I could've made the effort
To try and keep the conversation light
And I'll feel this way until I die

Bring back July
I'll give you everything if you just
Give me one more chance to make this right
Bring back July
I'll never waste another minute
I'll live with my eyes open wide
Just bring back July

I should've left the house
I could've met you somewhere
In between the bridge and 59
I know the roads were clear
We could've drove for hours
And caught a glimpse of heaven on the rise
And I'll feel this way until I die

Bring back July
I'll give you everything if you just
Give me one more chance to make this right
Bring back July
I'll never waste another minute
I'll live with my eyes open wide
Just bring back July

We'll, time to head to work...hopefully it's a busy saturday. I don't mind working some saturdays, but when it's soooo sweet outside, and you've got tons to do at home, but it's absolutely dead in the store and you're standing around all day trying to keep busy, it kind of gets to you. So if you've got nothing to do, come buy some new shoes or a bike or something! Super good deals if you say "I heard about these great deals on Warren's blog!". OK. Have a super duper day. Seize it.
