Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. Brrrrrrr!

Wowzers! Minus 45C with the windchill! Actually, it doesn't even feel too bad out there...the sun is shining, and it's another beautiful day. I think we should all give a warm Manitoba welcome to the month of January! It sure came in with a bang!

Hmmm....I started this post this morning, and didn't get to finish it before I had to go to work. Had a rather interesting morning. Went outside @ 8:30 to start my car. It's the one time every week I use my car...grocery shopping morning. Being the wise 23 years that I am, I had plugged the car in the night before. Even with my amazing Motomaster Eliminator battery (available exclusively at Canadian Tire!), my old v8 refuses to crank over when it's below -20C if it's not plugged in. Well, first thing that I noticed was not a good thing. Somehow my car door was unlocked and had been left open. I know for sure I had locked and closed my door on monday night, after Heinrich brought it back to my place. So now my battery was completely dead from the interior light being on for a day. I called my mom to see if I could borrow the car to pick up some groceries and a battery charger. Then I remembered there was a loose connection on one of the battery cables that always seemed to show up when it's really cold, so I went back out to the car to wiggle the cable and try again. As I got back into the car I noticed the face plate for my CD player was missing, and there was more plastic from my dashboard smashed and lying on the floor. Suddenly the open door made sense. Sometime between monday night and wednesday morning my car had been broken into, and the theives didn't even have the courtesy to close my door when they were done. What kind of people are out stealing car stereos when it's freakin' minus 45? Yikes. I should have left a note and told 'em just to take the whole car. Maybe next time.

So thankfully Liane came over to help me out. We picked up a charger, made a police report, and got some groceries. After I got home from work @ 9:30 this evening, I spent and hour or two outside working on the car...cleaning the battery terminals and replacing the bolts that hold them on. Seems to work ok now. It'd better. I have to pick up Liane after work tomorrow, and I don't think she'd want a double on my bike:) Heinrich & Irene invited us over for a BBQ. I should build a garage just so I could bbq in winter. That'd be great!
Anywhoos, it's late once again, and I should hit the sack.
Talk to ya'll later,
Wern
