Random ramblings from a guy who's enjoying the ride...my thoughts on what God's been teaching me lately...who know what might all show up here...I guess it's a place for me to keep a slightly more public version of my daily journaling. What Ever Happened to Courage?

Is it just me or has courage run off with it's tail between it's legs? I was reading the beginning of Joshua today and I couldn't get over how many times God told Joshua he would have to have courage. It seems like there are very few people like that around...maybe they all joined the army and left the rest of us to fend for ourselves. I'm not just talking about courage to fight physical battles...it seems like men in particular have lost that 'warrior instinct'. We are afraid to stand up for the things we know are right...things that we know are worth fighting for. Even as Christians we claim Christ to be our King, but do we fight his battles? Do we even know him well enough to know which battles he would fight? A few battles I know for sure that he would fight for are the widows, the fatherless, the orphans...how many of us fight for them? Who fights for virtue, purity, righteousness, justice? How many of us are loyal to the King the way Joshua's warriors were loyal to him? In Joshua 1:17 they reply to Joshua saying "Whatever you have commanded us we will do...whoever rebels agains your word...will be put to death. Only be strong and courageous!"
It's been a long time since I've watched a movie like Braveheart or The Last Samarai...my stomach doesn't care for too much carnage, but those movies get something all stirred up inside me...something I think God has designed us for. I haven't thought about courage for a long time. I remember as a kid, thinking that courage would be a good thing to have someday - when I'm older, but somehow I had forgotten all about it. I think I'm gonna have to do a little more research on this one...it's got me curious...I'll let you know what I find. Later,
